Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life earns zero Emmy nominations

As much as Lorelai and Rory Gilmore love pop culture, they’d be bummed to hear that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was shut out from the 2017 Emmy nominations. (And then they’d probably order takeout and pop in a movie.)

The revival, which was released on Netflix in November 2016, came up empty when the Emmy nominees were announced Thursday morning. Although it might not be too surprising when you consider that the series’ original run only ever won for makeup (on the “Festival of Living Art” episode), many thought that, at the very least, Lauren Graham would score a nomination for her return to playing Lorelai Gilmore — particularly in the final episode when she has a very emotional phone call with her mother.

That being said, Gilmore star Alexis Bledel did earn her first Emmy nomination … only it was for her work on Hulu’s Handmaid’s Tale. Nevertheless, we bet Lorelai would be proud.
