Connie Britton apologizes for missing AHS reunion at Emmys, addresses Rubber Man

"...Don't be a stranger."

Vivien Harmon has a message for Rubber Man: "Don't be a stranger."

Connie Britton apologized for missing what was supposed to be an American Horror Story reunion with "Murder House" costar Dylan McDermott at the 2023 Emmys on Monday night.

The actress, set to present the award for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie with McDermott, missed the festivities due to a forecasted storm in New York that threatened the production timeline on miniseries Zero Day.

That didn't stop Britton from sharing what she would have donned on the red carpet. Wearing a pink gown, Britton uploaded a series of photos herself on Instagram. She also issued a message to McDermott and Rubber Man, in reference to host Anthony Anderson who took the stage as the man inside of the Rubber Man bodysuit.

"Dear @dylan.mcdermott and #Rubberman, I am so sorry I had to miss joining you on Monday at the #Emmyawards for an @ahsfx reunion!"

"Even though I was impregnated with the antichrist by at least one, if not both of you, I was truly looking forward to seeing you on that grand Emmy stage and reminiscing about those good old spooky days," she continued. "Wanted to send along my Emmy pictures since this is as far as I got before being alerted that, because of a snowstorm in NY, I had to hop the next plane in order to make it to work on time the next day."

Congratulating all the winners and nominees, Britton concluded her post with the following: "And #Rubberman… don’t be a stranger."

In Britton's absence, McDermott heralded creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk for making AHS the success that it is today before he was interrupted by Rubber Man lurking on stage. Anderson, revealing himself to laughter from the audience, quipped, "Dylan, I thought my butt was bigger 'til I was on this stage."

Britton and McDermott headlined the 2011 "Murder House" installment of the anthology series and later reprised their roles in season 8, for AHS: Apocalypse in the episode titled "Return to Murder House." Other memorable cast reunions during the telecast included that of Martin, The Sopranos, Cheers, Ally McBeal, and All in the Family.
