This will be a never-before-told story of how young Leia Organa first joins the Rebellion against the Empire, shortly after her 16th birthday. Michael Siglain, creative director of Lucasfilm Publishing, says the book by Gray (who previously wrote about a middle-aged Leia in the novel Bloodline) will take us to the homeworld destroyed in the first Star Wars movie, and show the young princess rebelling first against her adoptive mother and father, Breha and Bail Organa. The Legends of Luke Skywalker, by Ken Liu

This Marvel Comics miniseries focuses on the events during and immediately after The Force Awakens, when Phasma must escape from the trash compactor where she was dumped by Finn, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. Parts of it will thread back to Dawson's novel about the character's origin as a young girl, eager to do whatever is necessary to escape her grim home planet. (Sept. to Nov. 2017)

This will be four stories, each focused on a different creature from the fabulous casino city of Canto Bight, which is sort of the galactic version of Monaco – full of high-rollers and dirty-dealers. The writers based stories on aliens from Neal Scanlan's creature shop that were created for the casino scene in The Last Jedi. (Out Dec. 5.)
