With the announcement of the 2017 ACE Eddie Awards nominations, Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight, Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, and Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea continue to dominate awards season at large, earning major nods from the influential industry guild on Tuesday morning.

The American Cinema Editors’ 67th batch of nominees recognizes editors in both film and television. On the film side, categories are split between dramatic, comedic, animated, and documentary features, with the usual suspects on the Oscar trail thus far (Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Zootopia, O.J.: Made in America) joining the aforementioned titles as prospective contenders.

After earning a surprise nomination for Best Picture at the Golden Globes, Ryan Reynolds’ blockbuster Marvel flick Deadpool similarly lands a nomination among the comedy set here, alongside the Coen brothers’ Hail, Caesar!, Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book, and Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster.

On the non-fiction front, Netflix’s Amanda Knox picks up its first notable guild nomination of the season in the documentary feature section, next to other buzzy titles like Ava DuVernay’s New York Film Festival opener 13th and the Sundance-debuting Anthony Weiner chronicle Weiner.

HBO and Netflix lead the major networks in total television nominations, with the former occupying all three slots in the half-hour series category (Veep receives two nominations, Silicon Valley nabs one) and the latter pulling off one nod for The Crown and two for the sci-fi hit Stranger Things.

In terms of the Oscar race, the ACE Eddie has been awarded to the eventual Best Film Editing Oscar winner six times since the 2008 ceremony. Films like Gravity, Whiplash, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which also won the Academy Award for editing, received nominations from the American Cinema Editors despite losing the Eddie to Captain Phillips, Boyhood, and The Descendants, respectively.

This year, J.J. Abrams will receive the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year award, while an additional two career achievement recipients will be announced at a future date. Competitive winners will be announced at a Jan. 27 ceremony in Beverly Hills.
