Amy Schumer may soon become a Barbie girl in a Barbie world.

EW has confirmed that the comedian is in talks to star in the upcoming live-action Barbie movie from Mattel and Sony. The project is being billed as a new take on the 50-year-old doll brand, tackling issues like female empowerment and what it means to be “perfect.”

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the story focuses on a Barbie (Schumer) who begins to realize that she doesn’t quite fit into her perfect plastic world. After she’s kicked out of Barbieland, she finds herself in the real world in a fish-out-of-water tale that’s being compared to films like Big, Enchanted, and Splash. From there, she learns that being unique is a strength, not a weakness, and that it’s far more important to focus on what’s on the inside, instead of on the outside.

The Barbie movie has been in the works for years, with Sony first partnering with Mattel on the project back in 2014, and since then, different writers have worked on the script, with Hilary Winston penning the latest version. Schumer is expected to put her own spin on it with her sister, Kim Caramele. There’s no director yet, but Deadline reports that Sony is looking for a woman to helm the project.

Barbie is expected to be rated PG and hit theaters during the summer of 2018. As for whether Ken will make an appearance? We’ll have to wait and see.
