Andy Cohen prides himself on being a “gold star gay,” which means he’s never hooked up with a woman. However, that almost changed during a stop on his book tour — and he tells most of the story in his new book, Superficial: More Adventures from the Andy Cohen Diaries.

“It’s one of my favorite parts of the book because I think it’s fascinating to hear about what it’s like to do that,” the Watch What Happens Live host tells EW and PEOPLE Editorial Director Jess Cagle during an EW SiriusXM Town Hall interview that’s also the latest installment of The Jess Cagle Interview.

While he was in Boston, Cohen met a heterosexual couple from New Hampshire who were very eager to hangout with him and gave off “a really interesting vibe” that told him “this was maybe more than a hang out.” “I was like, ‘This shocking to me,’ because I’m strictly dickly,” he says in the interview.

In anticipation of what was going to happen that night, Cohen texted all of his friends, including Sarah Jessica Parker and Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who were all very supportive of his impending experience.

“SJP via from email from Italy, she said, ‘Please remember every detail.’ Mark Consuelos [said], ‘Dude!’ Kelly: ‘Jake is very handsome and Angela is beautiful. I am very happy for you,'” says Cohen, reading from his book, which hits stands Tuesday.

However, we don’t want to give away what happened. To find out if Cohen actually lost his gold star status, you’re going to have to watch the video above.
