Some love stories are worth the wait — and that’s exactly the case with A United Kingdom, which Fox Searchlight announced Friday that it had acquired for a U.S. theatrical release.

Americans eagerly awaiting the David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike-starring flick’s premiere will have to wait until Feb. 17, 2017, when the film is released stateside.

Set in the 1940s, the film tells the true story of Seretse Khama (Oyelowo), the heir to the Botswanan throne who falls in love with Ruth Williams (Pike), a London office worker, who eventually becomes his wife. Sadly for the couple, they don’t just have to face their friends and families frowning upon their marriage, but also their respective governments, resulting in the pair being exiled from Botswana for six years.

Directed by Amma Asante (Belle), the film will be released in the U.K. in November.
