Grey's Anatomy: Patrick Dempsey names favorite episode

Romantic Post-It weddings be damned — Patrick Dempsey is a fan of beginnings.

While promoting his latest film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, the actor was asked to pick his favorite Grey’s Anatomy scene to shoot.

“That’s hard — there were 250 episodes I was in over 10 years,” he began during a Facebook Live interview with Cosmpolitan U.K. “I have to say my favorite really was the pilot because we didn’t know what was going to happen, and then there was that sense of discovery. When I saw it for the first time, I thought the music was incredible and it was fun to be a part of such a strong ensemble. That was special.”

“That first season was really remarkable,” he added.

One year clearly hasn’t changed Dempsey’s heart — he made similar comments to EW immediately after his last episode. “The pilot was great,” he said back in April 2015. “And then just the discovery of what was happening. I couldn’t believe how it came together. And the bands that came on, and the emotional impact the music had on the show. Everybody had great moments. You realize how powerful an ensemble can be, and it was the collective that made it successful, not one individual.”

“It was an incredible ride. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and what it’s given me,” he said. “And [fans] still continue to love it. It’s nice to see that it’s continued to do well.”

Earlier in the interview, Dempsey reminded fans that McDreamy is dead. Really, really dead.

“People keep asking me to come back to life and come back to the show,” he said. “I think, unfortunately, he has passed.”
