You're the Worst debuts season 3 trailer

You’re the Worst is back for its third season — but its starring characters haven’t come very far since season 2 concluded this past December, as we see in a new trailer for the FXX comedy.

“The third season jumps off from where we left them,” creator and showrunner Stephen Falk previously told EW. “Which is — having gone through Gretchen being in the throws of clinical depression — they got to the place of saying ‘I love you’ to each other for the first time, which was a very small moment, and yet impactful, I think, for a couple. The first time you say ‘I love you,’ it’s scary. So, we’re really playing out the b-side of that, the result of having taken this big emotional step forward.”

And, according to the trailer, Jimmy (Chris Geere) is having a hard time saying “I love you” back, while Gretchen (Aya Cash) is having a hard time dealing with her depression by seeing a new therapist, played by Orange Is the New Black‘s Samira Wiley. In other words, they’re all — Lindsay (Kether Donahue) and Edgar (Desmin Borges) included — still a mess. An entertaining mess, but a mess.
