Suicide Squad: Batman v Superman's Zack Snyder directed scene involving The Flash, Captain Boomerang

After directing Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Zack Snyder served as an executive producer on Suicide Squad, now playing in theaters. As it turns out, he had an even larger role to play on the DC film than previously thought: The movie’s helmer, David Ayer, recently revealed Snyder went behind the camera for a surprise scene. (Warning: spoilers ahead.)

Ezra Miller’s The Flash zoomed in for a Suicide Squad flashback sequence where he thwarted a robbery by Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang. As Ayer explained to Collider during an interview, the moment was filmed in London (where Snyder and Miller were filming Justice League) during those talked-about reshoots.

Before confirming Snyder as the one who directed the scene, Ayer said, “Flash was always in the movie, we just got lucky because Justice League was happening and they had the uniform, they had the assets, so we were able to get that photography.”

Marvelites will recall Joss Whedon pulling a similar move — the filmmaker directed the mid-credits scene for Captain America: The Winter Soldier involving Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, two characters who later made their debut in his Avengers sequel.

Snyder now continues production on Justice League, in which The Flash teams up with Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Superman (Henry Cavill). The film will be released on Nov. 17, 2017.
