Shadowhunters showrunner Ed Decter exits Freeform series

Looks like Shadowhunters is on the hunt for a new showrunner.

Ed Decter, who helmed Freeform’s urban fantasy series in its freshman season, has departed the show, EW has confirmed. No replacement has been named.

Shadowhunters, which is based on Cassandra Clare’s YA book series The Mortal Instruments, stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, a young woman who discovers she’s part of a long line of angel-human hybrids who hunt down demons. Last week, the series won two Teen Choice Awards, including for breakout TV series.

Production on season 2 will continue as scheduled, according to Deadline, which first reported the news.
