Postmodern Jukebox covers MMMBop by Hanson

Postmodern Jukebox are back at it again, this time with a cover of “MMMBop” the Hanson brothers practically commissioned.

Known for launching retro-fied takes on modern hit songs into viral success, the Scott Bradlee-led YouTube collective put a doo-wop spin on this 1996 favorite, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. While reflecting on the song’s meteoric success, bandmember Taylor Hanson told Vulture in March the track was in need of a group well-versed in old-school music.

“Someone needs to either make it totally their own in a genuinely unique way, or it needs to be a band that has a sensibility for old R&B,” Hanson said.

Considering Postmodern’s specialty is one of the most mainstream R&B styles of the ’50s, we’d say this qualifies. Watch their cover above.
