Channing Tatum is taking his talents to the small-screen for a new comedy series. Tatum’s production company, Free Association, is getting behind the buddy cop action-comedy Iron Fisting.

Inspired by retro cop series including Miami Vice, Iron Fisting is being billed as an ’80s Romanian cop show that will follow the adventures of a pair of mismatched policemen partners. The series will poke fun at the buddy cop genre, as the two protagonists strive to protect the Communism of 1980s Romania from the evils of Capitalism.

Iron Fisting comes from the minds of Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka, who previously created and wrote for Animal Practice together. SNL alum and Documentary Now! co-creator Rhys Thomas is attached to direct. The series is fully financed and co-produced by A24.

Free Association is currently in pre-production on a number of Tatum-led projects, including the 22 Jump Street follow-up Logan Lucky and the X-Men standalone Gambit.
