New Girl episode featuring Prince to rerun on Tuesday

There are all sorts of tributes being paid to Prince, who died Thursday at 57, memorializing the genre-defying, best-selling artist across social media, in movie theaters and at Paisley Park. Friday, Fox confirmed to EW that it will air New Girl‘s season 3 episode that featured a quirky, memorable guest-spot by Prince on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. (The network will air original episodes of New Girl at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. that night.) In that 2014 installment, Prince gave Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) permission to freak out when they met him at a party before the Royal One romantically counseled Jess.

New Girl producers released the following statement on Thursday in the wake of the tragic news: “We are all so deeply saddened to hear about the passing of this hero of ours — and so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet him and to have him on our show. It’s something we will remember forever. Our thoughts go out to his family. We are among the millions of people who will truly miss the brilliant Artist.���

Series creator Liz Meriwether and the cast also took to Twitter to pay their respects, with Meriwether calling him “extraordinary” and Deschanel praising him as “a king among men.”
