Doug Liman in talks to direct The Wall amid reported Gambit delay

Before Doug Liman tackles Gambit, he may be scaling The Wall.

EW has learned that Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) is in negotiations to direct the psychological thriller for Amazon Studios.

The Wall was Amazon’s first spec script purchase in 2014. Written by Dwain Worrell, it centers on an American sharpshooter pinned behind a small chuck of concrete by an Iraqi sniper.

Liman is also slated to direct the Channing Tatum-starring superhero film Gambit for Fox, but production on that film is reportedly being pushed back due to rewrites. That shuffling has now freed up Liman to direct The Wall, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which was first to report the news.

Per THR’s report, Liman plans to shoot The Wall in late spring/early summer before returning to pre-production on Gambit.

Liman boarded Gambit last November after Rise of the Planet of the Apes filmmaker Rupert Wyatt left the project, citing scheduling conflicts. The film currently does not have a release date set.

Fox did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Gambit’s production schedule.
