Stephen Colbert to honor Love Actually director Richard Curtis

The Montclair Film Festival’s first-ever filmmaker tribute will honor the man behind Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’ Diary, and Mr. Bean.

The New Jersey festival announced a daylong celebration of Richard Curtis on April 30 that will include a screening of Love Actually, with live behind-the-scenes commentary from Curtis himself, and a wide-ranging conversation between the filmmaker and Stephen Colbert.

“I’m so delighted to be part of the festival,” Curtis said in a statement, “and excited to have a chance to be on stage with Stephen Colbert — and looking forward to undermining Love Actually with my scurrilous memories and revelations about the low quality of the filmmaking, and quite how many members of my own family are in it, including my mother-in-law.”

BAFTA New York, Universal Pictures, and Working Title Films are co-presenting the event, and a portion of the proceeds will go to Red Nose Day, a U.K. charity that uses entertainment to address poverty and social injustice.

This year’s Montclair Film Festival runs from April 29 through May 8, and ticket information is available at montclairfilmfest.org.
