Dawson's Creek revival not likely, says Katie Holmes

It’s the age of the TV reboot, and dramedies from the ’90s to the early ’00s are getting the most love. But according to Katie Holmes, Dawson’s Creek probably won’t be joining the likes of Gilmore Girls and Full House in getting some new episodes years after ending.

In an interview with the Today show for her new movie Touched With Fire, Holmes revealed that she doesn’t think that the six-season teen drama that made her a household name would work in 2016.

Holmes, who starred in Dawson’s Creek as high school — and, later, college student — Joey Potter, points to the increased societal dependence on technology as a major reason why the show wouldn’t work in a modern time period, noting that Dawson’s Creek (1998–2003) existed “before the Internet really took over.”

“When I look back at the show, it had a certain charm,” Holmes said. “It was before the Internet really took over, it was before iPhones, it was before this kind of new form of communication, and it had this certain feeling that was of the ’90s. I don’t think that in today’s world, you could achieve that same kind of feeling.”
