The Grammy-winning singer and American Horror Story: Hotel star kept it simple with a traditional arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” drawing loud applause from the crowd.
Rocking a bright red suit, blue nails, and American flag-themed platform shoes, she brought major patriotism to Levi’s Stadium.
Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin joined Gaga to perform the anthem in American Sign Language.
Gaga is enjoying a big year: In addition to winning a Golden Globe for her turn in Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology, the singer is nominated for an Academy Award for best original song for “Til It Happens To You,” a collaboration with Diane Warren for The Hunting Ground. Gaga is set to perform a tribute to David Bowie at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 15.
