Super Bowl 50: Lady Gaga sings national anthem

Lady Gaga performed the national anthem at Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, kicking off the matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. The Grammy-winning singer and American Horror Story: Hotel star kept it simple with a traditional arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” drawing loud applause from the crowd.

Rocking a bright red suit, blue nails, and American flag-themed platform shoes, she brought major patriotism to Levi’s Stadium.

Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin joined Gaga to perform the anthem in American Sign Language.

Gaga is enjoying a big year: In addition to winning a Golden Globe for her turn in Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology, the singer is nominated for an Academy Award for best original song for “Til It Happens To You,” a collaboration with Diane Warren for The Hunting Ground. Gaga is set to perform a tribute to David Bowie at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 15.
