The CW is doubling down on sci-fi and fantasy for 2016. The network has ordered six new pilots, and most are big-concept genre shows. The list includes Mars thriller, a Translyvania-set monster mash-up and a present-day, live-action take on the Archie Comics.

One title to watch out for in particular is the one with the least amount of description — Kevin Williamsons untitled and vaguely described paranormal project. The script snagged director David “the pilot whisperer” Nutter, who has a terrific track record for making pilots that get greenlit to series.

Here’s the list:

RIVERDALE

Pitch: “Set in present day and based on the iconic Archie Comics characters, Riverdale is a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.”
