There’s one woman at the center of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend — protagonist (and so-called “crazy” ex-girlfriend) Rebecca Bunch — but series star, co-creator, and Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom points out there are many others who make The CW musical series what it is.

Speaking to PEOPLE and EW on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday, Bloom praised the “strong, powerful women” involved in all aspects of the show — “on the creation side of things, and on every other side of things. It’s wonderful.”

Bloom, who called Crazy Ex-Girlfriend “the most satisfying experience” of her life, won best actress in a comedy series during the Globes telecast.

“We almost didn’t have a show,” Bloom said in her acceptance speech. “We made a pilot for another network and they rejected it … We got six rejections in one day and we felt like crap but we knew it was good.”
