Annie Awards 2016 nominees include Inside Out, Good Dinosaur, Peanuts

Releasing two films in a year for the first time has proved a successful one for Pixar, as the studio’s latest animated hits have earned the most nominations for the upcoming 43rd Annie Awards.

Inside Out garnered 14 nominations, the most of any movie, with Pixar’s latest release, The Good Dinosaur, following close behind at 10 nominations. Both films are competing for Best Animated Feature, along with Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa, Shaun the Sheep The Movie, and The Peanuts Movie. Pixar comes in with 25 overall nominations (Sanjay’s Super Team has also been nominated for Best Animated Short Subject).

The Directing in an Animated Feature Production nominees include Inside Out‘s Pete Docter, Anomalisa‘s Kaufman, Raul Garcia for Extraordinary Tales, Roger Allers for Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet, Mark Burton for Shaun the Sheep, Syeve Martino for Peanuts, and Hiromasa Yonebayashi for When Marnie Was There. While The Good Dinosaur‘s Peter Sohn did not receive a nomination in the category, the film is in contention with its fellow Pixar release in many others.

Other major releases nominated for Annie Awards include Minions with seven nominations, while both Home and Hotel Transylvania 2 received three nominations each. Dreamworks took home the top prize last year with How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Bob’s Burgers, BoJack Horseman, Moonbeam City, and The Simpsons have all been nominated for Best General Audience Animated Television/Broadcast Production.
