Ready for your first official glimpse of something from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them?

Next year Warner Bros. will release it’s ultra-mysterious Harry Potter prequel movie based on J.K. Rowling’s 2001 encyclopedia cataloging magical creatures from around the wizarding world. Above is the film’s title treatment — the movie’s first official piece of promotion — which offers a steely, toothy, serpentine design.

The Harry Potter franchise had an iconic title design across seven novels and eight films. One glance and you instantly recognized those jagged, uneven letters, reminiscent of Hogwarts’ gothic towers, along with that telltale integrated lightning bolt on the stem of the “P.” Fantastic Beasts stars Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) as “magizoologist” Newt Scamander and is set in New York in 1926. Designers came up with a title treatment that recalls the Potter franchise, yet has its own strong and cryptic feel, with a serpent’s tail replacing the lightning bolt.
