Cumberbatch, Benedict Cumberbatch?

As speculation continues to swirl over who will succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond, the Sherlock star doesn’t seem to think he’ll make the 007 casting shortlist — but doesn’t seem to rule it out, either.

Cumberbatch replied with, “Who knows?” when asked at the London premiere of Black Mass if he’d be up for playing the British superspy, according to BBC News.

“I can wear a suit and I can fight. I can raise my eyebrow, but that’s not what it takes to play Bond,” he told reporters.

Cumberbatch did say the role would be “fun,” but also that he thinks producers might want to go in “different directions” for their next Bond.

For now, Craig is still our 007, and he’ll return to theaters in Spectre on Nov. 6. It’s not yet clear whether the actor will suit up again for a future Bond film, though he recently said he hasn’t given it much thought yet.

“Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” Craig told Time Out London, when asked about the prospect of another Bond outing. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”
