The Griswolds are on the road again in new Vacation trailer

Buckle up, ready your best road-trip sing-alongs, and be prepared for everything to go wrong… because the next generation of Griswolds are coming. And it looks like Rusty Griswold has inherited his father’s gift for family fun. A reboot of the 1983 National Lampoon’s Vacation, the new film stars Ed Helms as grown-up Rusty, who attempts to follow in his father’s family bonding footsteps by bringing his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate) and his two sons on a surprise trip to the famed Walley World. Not surprisingly, it’s far from the idealistic vacation of his dreams, as the family encounters a car with a mind of its own (a.k.a. the “Honda of Albania”), a white-water rafting disaster, and a romp in the “Griswold Springs”—otherwise known as a raw sewage swamp.

Along with the many gags and throwbacks to the original (such as the opening scene when Rusty’s son notices a pretty girl in the next lane over, just like his father so many years ago), the real fun is seeing original Lampooner Chevy Chase, cameos by comedians like Nick Kroll and Charlie Day, and Chris Hemsworth as the husband of Rusty’s sister, Audrey (Leslie Mann)—whose inappropriate actions make up for his less than God-like hair.

Vacation arrives in theaters on July 31.
