HBO renews 'Togetherness'

HBO has already decided that we all need a little more Togetherness: The network has renewed the Duplass brothers’ comedy after airing only three episodes.

The show—which stars Mark Duplass, Melanie Lynskey, Amanda Peet, and Steve Zissis—will begin production on season 2 later this year, with those episodes hitting the air in 2016.

Created by Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass, and Steve Zissis, Togetherness follows the everyday struggles of married parents Brett (Duplass) and Michelle (Melanie) as they try to find meaning in their lives and relationships while living with Michelle’s sister Tina (Peet) and Brett’s friend Alex (Zissis), who move in with them.

“We began our love affair with HBO in our parents’ living room in 1983, and to have these brilliant creative people put a ring on our fingers with a second season of Togetherness is a real-life dream come true,” the Duplass brothers said in a statement.

Togetherness—which debuted Jan. 11 with positive reviews yet a modest 427,000 viewers—and will finish its eight-episode season on March 8.
