After both J.J. Abrams and Roberto Orci gave up the helm, Paramount has found a new director for Star Trek 3.

EW has confirmed that Justin Lin, who almost single-handedly revived the Fast and Furious franchise, has signed on to direct the followup to 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness weeks after Orci backed down.

Abrams directed the first two films in the rebooted franchise, but announced he’d not be returning for Star Trek 3 in order to helm Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

Orci and Abrams will stay on as producers on the project. A release date has not yet been announced for Star Trek 3, but Paramount had been aiming for a 2016 release, to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the original series’ debut.
