Kelsey Grammer and Stephen Moyer will star in National Geographic’s Killing Jesus, EW has confirmed.

The film, based on the 2013 book by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, will follow Jesus’ life in the period of political and social turmoil in the Roman Empire that ultimately results in his death. Grammer will play King Herod while Moyer will play Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor who sentenced Jesus’ crucifixion. Haaz Sleiman will play Jesus. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.

“The film Killing Jesus will break new ground in chronicling the life of the most famous human being who ever lived,” said O’Reilly, who also serves as an executive producer, in a statement. “The superb cast and script reflect much thought and research. Viewers are in for something very different and very special.”

O’Reilly is executive producing the project alongside Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Mary Lisio, Teri Weinberg, Heather Moran, and Charlie Parsons. Chris Menaul is directing the movie while Law & Order: Criminal Intent showrunner Walon Green is writing the script.

The film will be a four-hour-long miniseries and is slated to premiere in 2015.
