The short version of this week’s PopWatch Planner is two words and two words only: Shark Week. If you really want advice on what else to watch, maybe you could check out Franklin & Bash on Wednesday, or go to see The Giver over the weekend. But come on, do those have sharks in them?
Anyway, your pop-culture schedule for the week is:
SUNDAY Aug. 10
Air Jaws: Fin of Fury, 8 p.m., Discovery
Like a leviathan rising up from the depths, Shark Week breaks through your pop-culture schedule to consume the rest of your waking hours.
MONDAY Aug. 11
Running Wild with Bear Grylls, 8 p.m., NBC
Zac Efron and Ben Stiller’s episodes have already aired, but Channing Tatum is on this time—in other words, none of the aforementioned material is as important as seeing whether Magic Mike has the power to survive in the wilderness.
TUESDAY Aug. 12
Sinéad O’Connor’s I’m not Bossy, I’m the Boss in stores
Other stars may come and go, but nothing compares to Sinead.
WEDNESDAY Aug. 13
Franklin & Bash, 10 p.m., TNT
The buzz for the pilot is looking good — especially since it’s about the firm defending a marijuana practice.
THURSDAY Aug. 14
Defiance, 8 p.m., Syfy
Drop back in on this week’s episode of the alien-studded Western, which features a return from Kenya Rosewater (Mia Kirshner) who was presumed dead.
FRIDAY Aug. 15
Let’s Be Cops in theaters
It’s not entirely clear that this isn’t a spinoff episode of New Girl, but why not hang out with Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, Jr. either way?
SATURDAY Aug. 16
The Giver in theaters
Whether or not this adaptation of Lois Lowry’s young adult classic is good, you’ll need to see it (and have an opinion).
SUNDAY Aug. 17
Falling Skies, 10 p.m., TNT
Whether you’re already a fan or not-so-hot on this TNT sci-fi series (read EW Community’s recaps here), tonight’s episode is worth checking in for. After all, they’re about to kick off a trip to the moon.
