It’s a teen dream match-up.
Fox has purchased a one-hour pilot for the teen drama Prodigy, a collaboration between Juno scribe Diablo Cody and O.C. creator Josh Schwartz. Fake Empire Productions, which Schwartz founded in 2010 with his Gossip Girl co-creator Stephanie Savage, is leading the development of the show.
Prodigy focuses on a 16-year-old home schooled genius who decides to take a shot at the high school experience before heading to college. It works and then backfires when she takes up with a wild crowd. Cody, who picked up an Oscar for her original screenplay Juno, will write the show.
The release did not specify a timeline for the pilot.
