'Parenthood' scoop: 'Lost' actress joins season 5

Sonya Walger

Parenthood is adding to its cast for season 5. Lost actress Sonya Walger is joining the show in a recurring role next season.

She’ll play Meredith, a single and sexy architect who is working with Joel (Sam Jaeger) on a two-year project. Except she makes Julia (Erika Christensen) feel self-conscious about being a stay-at-home mom and she sees her as a threat.

Since playing Penelope “Penny” Widmore on ABC’s Lost, Walger has had roles on ABC’s FlashForward, HBO’s In Treatment and USA’s Common Law.

In addition, Matt Lauria, who plays Army vet Ryan on the show, is returning for Parenthood‘s new season. The show returns this fall on a new night and time — Thursdays at 10 p.m.
