'Hannibal' trailer with more Lecter

If you’ve been hungering for more of NBC’s Hannibal (sorry), you’re in luck. The network has released another teaser leading up to the show’s April 4 premiere. And unlike a lot of the recently released footage, this one is… more meaty.

The video hints that Hannibal may be playing by some of the genre’s old rules: Hugh Darcy’s Will Graham is being reinstated in the field as a “special investigator” on behalf of the FBI; he will also undergo a psych evaluation courtesy of one Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen).

What to make of the number of portents (flocks of crows, a bloodied woman floating above the ground, a meat grinder that’s grinding “meat”) and the double reference to “imagination”? Given that the pilot is directed by David Slade, who made Eclipse but also the fantastically portential Hard Candy, and overseen by Pushing Daises’ Bryan Fuller, I’d say we should expect more fantastical imagery, not less. Or as it’s put in the video, “huge amounts of fear” are “the price of imagination.”

More interesting still is the brief glimpse we see of Lecter manhandling a presumed victim, which begs the question: Just how quickly will the good doctor go bad?
