Time out!

The Internet freaked out last fall when it was announced that TGIF favorite Boy Meets World was getting a spinoff, Girl Meets World. But apparently that was only the beginning for ‘90s-loving nostalgia fans.

In an interview with TMZ, Saved by the Bell‘s Mark-Paul Gosselaar, a.k.a Zach Morris, a.k.a your boyfriend in 1992 said, “We’ll see how [Girl Meets World does], maybe we’ll do a reunion as well.” Now, to be fair, this was a total off-the-cuff remark with absolutely no network promise behind it. But this is the Internet! We can dream! Long live The Max!

Saved by the Bell of course has already played the spinoff game. There was a spinoff of sorts when the gang headed off to college (Saved by the Bell: The College Years), as well as Saved by the Bell: The New Class, with a brand-new crew (save for Mr. Belding, of course). And assuming we are not talking about a reboot with a whole new “new class,” but instead a show following around Zach and Kelly and their millennial children, I’m not sure I’m super jazzed about a return to Bayside. I’m inclined to say this one should stay in the Saturday morning reruns of yesteryear. Part of its goofy charm might just be too jarring for our edgier 2013 sensibilities. Not to mention, there is no way Screech will be allowed anywhere near any other cast members after Dustin Diamond’s book release.

But that’s just my opinion. Fans certainly seemed into it when Jimmy Fallon tried to reunite the cast in 2009 on his show (before the gang ultimately graced the cover of People). Would you watch a present-day spinoff with Zach, Kelly, Jessie and A.C. Slater?
