The Croods

Think of The Croods as a prehistoric road-trip movie. Nicolas Cage voices cave-dad Grug, who’s forced to move his family after an earthquake destroys their home. He’s ”a great archetype of the frustrated, loving father pushed to the extreme until it culminates in the world’s first midlife crisis,” explains director Chris Sanders. And things only get worse for Grug when his teenage daughter, Eep (Emma Stone), meets the dashing, enlightened Guy (Ryan Reynolds). ”[Guy] makes tools, he can make fire, and he has quite the imagination,” Sanders says. “He’s a different species of human being. He’s not a caveman.” Sounds like Meet the Parents is about to meet civilization.
