We’ll find out when Disney’s sequel to The Muppets hits theaters. Gervais confirmed rumors via Twitter today that he will play the lead in the new film, a European adventure that is also set to star Ty Burrell as a bumbling Interpol inspector. Here’s Gervais’s tweet:

Will Gervais hold a candle to Jason Segel, who reinvigorated Kermit, Miss Piggy and co. with his 2011 Muppets movie? As long as the final product looks something like this, we’re optimistic:
