• Terrence Howard has joined the A-list stuffed ensemble Prisoners alongside Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa Leo, Viola Davis, Paul Dano, and Maria Bello, about a carpenter (Jackman) whose daughter and her best friend are kidnapped, and then goes rogue trying to find them, going head-to-head with a detective (Gyllenhaal). French-Canadian Denis Villeneuve, known for 2010’s Oscar-nominated Incendies, is directing from a screenplay by Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband). [Deadline]
• Ty Burrell (ABC’s Modern Family) has snagged a plum role in Disney’s Muppets sequel as an Interpol inspector, a major part previously eyed by Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz. James Bobin, who directed 2011’s silly, sweet hit Muppets movie, is back to direct this one, and co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller. The film switches up from a Hollywood setting to Europe. • James Marsden (X-Men) has signed onto the comedy Walk of Shame, co-starring Elizabeth Banks as a neurotic news anchor locked out of her place after a wild night out who delves into a series of adventures as she heads to an important job interview, according to a press release. Steve Brill (Drillbit Taylor) wrote and will direct the movie. Marsden next stars in thriller 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg, and Lee Daniels-directed The Butler as President John F. Kennedy, both set for release next year.
