'Hart of Dixie': Scott Porter on George's new love interest

George has been a bit of a free agent in the business of love so far on this season of Hart of Dixie. But that’s about to change.

On tonight’s episode, Wade’s ex Tansy (Mircea Monroe) is back in Bluebell, but this time around, she’s not just there to ruffle Wade’s feathers — she’s getting close to George (Scott Porter). “She sort of turns his whole world upside down and he loves it,” teases Porter.

In the next few episodes, Tansy and George will once again prove that old adage of opposites attract, and as crazy as the pairing sounds, Porter says fans will slowly unwrap the layers of the bond they share. “As we move forward you’re going to see the two of them stand up for each other and fight for each other a little bit. It’s kind of cute and interesting,” he says. “It’s also a bit of a mirror to Wade and Zoe a little bit — an unexpected relationship that creeps up and succeeds against all odds because they’re having a great time with each other.”

But as the beginning stages of love bloom before the audience, Wade’s definitely less than pleased with the development — as one might expect. “There may be a little conflict as far as Tansy is concerned. [As usual,] Wade acts irrationally but with a noble soul,” he says. “I think these are really two good guys who come from a different set of circumstances, but if you flipped their circumstances, I think they’d be very similar in how they’d react.”

Regardless of the tiffs that come along the way, Porter adds that he sees the two lifelong friends staying that way. “I think they’re very similar people. I think that’s why their relationship is so strong,” he says. “The way in which we handle it is different than I’ve seen a lot of shows handle best buds.”

Hart of Dixie airs tonight on the CW.
