• Stephen Moyer will play prosecutor John Fogelman in the West Memphis 3 drama Devil’s Knot. Fogelman prosecutes the case against three teenagers who were wrongfully convicted of homicide in 1993. Moyer will shoot in between his vampire duties on HBO’s True Blood, joining Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon in the film, helmed by Atom Eyogen. [Deadline]
• The Tom Holland-directed adaptation of scare-master Stephen King’s The Ten O’Clock People is in talks with Justin Long (Going the Distance) for the lead role of Brandon Pearson. In the story, part of King’s 1993 Nightmares and Dreamscapes book of short stories, Pearson uncovers more than the bad taste of nicotine gum when he tries to quit smoking. [Deadline]
• And more from the world of book adaptations: Oscar Issac (Drive) will join the adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s (The Talented Mr. Ripley) 1964 international thriller The Two Faces of January, about an American con artist who kills a police officer and is on the run with his wife and a stranger in a foreign country. The film is scripted and directed by Drive writer Hossein Amini, who will make his directorial debut. Viggo Mortenson is also attached to star. [Variety]
