Lost

Question: You’re blaming the late arrival of Ask Ausiello on the blizzard? Lame. But I’ll forgive you if you give me a really juicy Lost spoiler. —Jesse

Ausiello: Would you believe me if I told you my laptop got stuck in a 5-foot snowdrift? No? Okay, I’ll think of something else. In the meantime, here’s your juicy Lost spoiler: Someone has a kid in their flash-sideways. Guesses? Head to the comments!

Question: What can you tell me about Libby’s Lost return? —Joe

Ausiello: I can’t tell you very much. Cynthia Watros, however, describes her onscreen reunion with Jorge Garcia as “so sweet and honest. And I think, hopefully, when people see our scenes that they’ll get that feeling, too. [Libby and Hurley] are so incredibly real with each other. I was really grateful that I got to play those scenes and Libby got to sort of express herself in ways that she hasn’t been able to.”

Question: Kurt’s new BF on Glee is out, proud, fabulous and a football player. But is he in the glee club? —Ashley

Ausiello: Yes, he will be a member of New Directions. He won’t, however, be an R&B singer — a rumor I dispelled in the newest episode of Ausiello TV.

Question: Is there another kiss coming up for Will and Emma on Glee? I hope so! —Carrie

Ausiello: There are definitely other kisses in Will and Emma’s future. More so in Will’s.

Question: I noticed a really, really interesting video on Cory Monteith’s Twitter. He posted a short clip of the Glee cast goofing off, but what was more interesting was the wardrobe sported by two of my favorite characters, Kurt and Mercedes. The dominant divas both appeared to be clad in William McKinley High School Cheerio uniforms. Are these two the newest thorns in Sue Sylvester’s side? —Chris

Ausiello: Not quite. I hear Sue recruits them.

Question: I’m obsessed with Castle. Scoop me! —Denise

Ausiello: I’m hearing something about Beckett getting a significant new love interest by season’s end.

Question: I know a lot of people are ready for their relationship to be over, but I need to know: Are Little Grey and Sloan dunzo on Grey’s Anatomy? Or do they still have a chance? —Julie

Ausiello: It looks like the relationship has been pronounced dead, or at least it’s in a coma. “We’re done,” Eric Dane told us at Monday’s Valentine’s Day premiere. “At least we’re done for now. Mark is stubborn and I think he was really shocked and hurt by her and he isn’t going to let that go very easily.” As for Mark’s surprise progeny, whose arrival put both parties on edge, “I don’t know if we will see the daughter again. Addison may have talked her into adoption for all I know.”

Question: Anything else on Grey’s Anatomy? —Chris

Ausiello: Just this casting scoopbit: Sara Gilbert will play a patient in an episode slated to air in March or April. And for the record, this is a different patient than the one Gilbert played on Private Practice way back when.

Question: Okay, so now that “He Who Must Not Be Discussed Further” is out at Nurse Jackie, are we going to see any more of Nurse Thor? He was only on sporadically last season, but he always cracked me up. —David

Ausiello: Yes, he’ll essentially be replacing “He Who Must Not Be Discussed Further” in the role of Jackie’s gay confidante this season. Which only serves to make me miss “He Who Must Not Be Discussed Further” more.

Question: Clear eyes, full hearts, help! I need some scoop about Friday Night Lights‘ fifth (and final) season! —Lesley

Ausiello: The writers just returned to work, so this could very well change, but rumor has it Eric will be adding a familiar (and surprising) face to his coaching staff.

Question: There are never any spoilers for In Plain Sight on here. Can you change that? —Tessa

Ausiello: This is more scoop than spoiler, but singer-songwriter Liz Phair has been tapped as the composer for the new season (debuting March 31). Liz previously served as a composer on 90210, Swingtown, and The Beautiful Life. Who knew? Not me.

Question: What brings Leslie Hope back into the fold on The Mentalist? —Liz

Ausiello: She’s hired by a local police department to help solve the same case that Jane and the CBI team are working on.

Question: 30 Rock news, please! Any news on what’s happening on the show after the Olympics-induced break? —Dylan

Ausiello: Jenna will be getting a new, oddly normal boyfriend. Well, at least he’ll appear normal. This is Jenna we’re talking about. Turns out, the hottie possesses a hidden talent that is both hilarious and a little creepy. In other words, he should be a perfect match for Jenna.

Question: These Chuck ‘shippers are driving me crazy with their negativity after “Chuck Versus the Mask.” Can you give them something positive in regards to Chuck/Sarah that will get them to retract their claws? Please help! —Jason

Ausiello: This mini Q&A I conducted with exec producers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak via e-mail shortly after Monday’s episode should do the trick…

Q: Did you anticipate that the episode would elicit this kind of reaction?

SCHWARTZ AND FEDAK: We knew it was going to cause a bit of angst in some viewers. We didn’t expect this level certainly, though we are appreciative that our fans are this invested in the characters. One thing we didn’t anticipate when we made this episode was that it would be the last episode before a three-week hiatus.

Q: Why did you decide to have both Chuck and Sarah embark on new romances (with Hannah and Shaw, respectively) in the same episode?

SCHWARTZ AND FEDAK: Because we are masochists. We kid, we kid. It happens sometimes in life. If you see one person moving on, it can spur you to move on as well. But we want to stress, Chuck and Sarah are not emotionally in the same place at the end of this episode.

Q: Which of the two relationships poses the bigger threat to Chuck and Sarah?

SCHWARTZ AND FEDAK: There are things far greater than a relationship that threaten Chuck and Sarah… Stay tuned.

Q: Can you offer any hope to Chuck/Sarah fans?

SCHWARTZ AND FEDAK: As we’ve said before, [Monday’s episode] was Chapter 7 of 19 of this season. We love and appreciate our fans. We know our fans are why we’re back this season. But we need them to trust us to tell the most emotionally satisfying story possible. This has been mapped out from the start, and we always knew telling this portion of the story would be difficult for some. But we need people to come to back to the show March 1st — now more than ever — and we think if they do take this journey with us, they will see what we had planned the whole time. This is part of a bigger story than just “will they or won’t they.”

It’s worth pointing out that not everyone was disgusted by Monday’s turn of events…

Question: I absolutely love Kristin Kreuk as Hannah on Chuck. Any idea how many more episodes she will be in this season? —Jeremy

Ausiello: Just one. Schwartz and Fedak confirmed that Kreuk’s arc will conclude on March 1. Meanwhile, Brandon Routh’s stay has been extended yet again, although Team um… Schwedak (?) wouldn’t provide an updated episode count.

Question: Any chance the name of Christopher Lloyd’s shrink on Chuck is Doc Brown? Also, does his episode have a title? —Jeremy

Ausiello: His character’s name is not Doc Brown. And the episode is called “Chuck Versus the Tooth.”

Question: Thank you for mentioning Legend of the Seeker in your last Ask Ausiello column. I really love the show and the more exposure it gets, the better. —Jason

Ausiello: I’m glad you feel that way, because exec producer Ken Biller gave me at least three more weeks’ worth of scoop. “We are doing a really fun episode that is guest starring Parker Stevenson of The Hardy Boys and Baywatch fame,” reveals Biller. “He’s playing a nobleman who has made a deal with the Keeper — who in our world is essentially the devil — for eternal life in exchange for turning over Kahlan. And because he is going to live eternally but be relegated to the confines of his own kingdom, he needs to choose a new wife. And so the character of Cara, who is the least ladylike of all our characters, in order to infiltrate the palace and rescue Kahlan, is going to have to try and pose as a very ladylike princess. That’s a lot of fun. Zed and Richard have to go in with her as her royal retinue and keep up this ruse in order to try to rescue Kahlan.”

Question: Something about NCIS, please! —Sara

Ausiello: The season finale will not be Tiva-centric, exec producer Shane Brennan tells me. “It’s not specifically focused on Tony and Ziva,” he says. “Last season’s finale was very much about the two of them and the culmination of that particular arc. But it’s not specifically focused on them in the same way last season’s finale was.”

Question: What’s this I hear about Christopher Meloni ditching Law & Order: SVU after Season 12? —Tracy

Ausiello: Relax. Take a deep breath. And listen up: Meloni is contractually bound to SVU through May 2011. What do you say we revisit this discussion in about a year?

Question: I need scoop about Nip/Tuck. – Jillian

Ausiello: Could our favorite sex-crazed surgeons be filing for Chapter 11 by the series’ end on March 3? Maybe. In the Feb. 17 episode, Christian and Sean fear the decline of the plastic surgery industry. Christian even films himself going under the knife to show how quick and easy it can be, but the video of the procedure produces a less than enthusiastic reaction from the public. Also, look out for Christian’s super symbolic anesthesia-induced dream. It’s a real head trip.

Question: It’s time for a 24 spoiler. Get it? —Jonathan

Ausiello: I get it! As you no doubt saw in the previews for next week’s episode, Jack finds himself on the receiving end of yet another brutal interrogation. But this one may be worth sitting through, if only to witness the shocking (literally) conclusion.

Question: How about some scoop about Gossip Girl that doesn’t have to do with Blair and Chuck? I want to know what’s going to happen with the gorgeous coupling of Nate and Serena! —Ann

Ausiello: Sounds like lots of crazy sex is going to happen. Exec producer Josh Schwartz teased via Twitter yesterday that the pair will be getting it on “in the closet, on the kitchen floor… 9 1/2 Weeks in 9 1/2 seconds.” And in case you missed it, here’s the new (and somewhat) spoilery GG trailer.

Question: I love the idea of Cynthia Watros playing Wilson’s first wife on House. How long will she be sticking around for? —Rose

Ausiello: That’s TBD. As of now, it’s a handful of episodes. Should producers decide to keep her around long-term, they won’t have a tough time coming up with an organic way to integrate her into the show: Her character is a doctor.

That’s a wrap! Please send questions, comments, anonymous tips to ausielloscoop@ew.com. Also, you can follow me on Twitter via @ewausiellofiles. Thanks for playing! (Additional reporting by Archana Ram, Sandra Gonzalez, Keith Staskiewicz, and Carrie Bell)
