Peter Jackson's upcoming projects -- ''The Lovely Bones,'' ''The Hobbit,'' and ''Dambusters'' are keeping the director busy

THE LOVELY BONES
Jackson co-wrote, directed, and produced this highly anticipated drama, which is based on Alice Sebold’s best-selling novel about a murdered teen who watches her family from the afterlife. The movie hits theaters Dec. 11.

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN
Director Steven Spielberg is in postproduction on a 3-D motion-capture film (due in 2011) based on the old Belgian comic about a boy reporter and his dog. Jackson is producing — and will direct a sequel.

THE HOBBIT
Jackson’s producing two movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved novel. He has tapped Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) to direct and to co-write the screenplays with Philippa Boyens, Fran Walsh, and Jackson himself. The scripts are nearly done.

DAMBUSTERS
Jackson is eager to produce a remake of the 1955 British WWII film and is reportedly shooting experimental footage in New Zealand to see if he can depict bombing raids in 3-D. The first-time director Christian Rivers will be at the helm.
