Don't remake ''Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid''

Why the Paul Newman-Robert Redford classic needs to be kept sacred

Don’t remake ”Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”

According to at least one tabloid report, Oscar-winning buddies Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are planning to team up to remake the Paul Newman-Robert Redford classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. We assume this is a hoax. It must be a joke. Please, let it just be a had-a-little-too-much-to-drink-while-playing-poker gag. Didn’t one of these guys go to, like, Harvard? Or, at least, visit while shooting Good Will Hunting? They should know better than to attempt to ”put a fresh spin” on the granddaddy of all buddy pictures and, simply put, one of the greatest movies of the 20th century. Take it from us, fellas: Don’t even think about it. (But if you two do decide to ignore our heartfelt pleas for sanity, you have to promise to cast Ben in the Katharine Ross role…and use real bullets.)
