''Kill Bill -- Vol. I'' tops MTV Movie Awards

''Kill Bill: Vol. I'' tops MTV Movie Awards. ''Bill'' takes three popcorn tubs, and ''Return of the King'' takes two, including Best Film

The first part of Quentin Tarantino’s revenge epic didn’t win any Oscars this year, but at the MTV Movie Awards, it filled the bill. ”Kill Bill — Vol. I” was the night’s big winner, taking home three golden popcorn tubs, for Uma Thurman’s lead performance, Best Villain (Lucy Liu), and Best Fight (Thurman’s Bride vs. Chiaki Kuriyama’s Go-Go). Also robbed at the Academy Awards, Johnny Depp earned a Best Male Performance trophy for ”Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” Tastes did overlap for Best Picture Oscar winner ”The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” which also earned the MTV citation for Best Movie and for Best Action Sequence (the siege of Minas Tirith).

Lindsay Lohan, the youngest-ever host of the ceremony (she’s 17), also became the first host to appear at the podium as a winner, earning Best Breakthrough Female for her ”Freaky Friday” performance. Last year’s cohost, Seann William Scott, also won, for Best Dance Sequence, for his unlikely moves in ”American Wedding.” The obligatory MTV awards show girl-on-girl kiss was enjoyed by presenter Paris Hilton and ”Starsky & Hutch” costar Carmen Electra, who won Best Kiss for her three-way smooch with Amy Smart and Owen Wilson (neither of whom attended the awards gala).
