Older buyers still had choices aplenty — like Sting, in at No. 3 with 195,000 copies; Dido, on his tail with 192,000; country’s Martina McBride, at No. 7 with 123,000; and a Midler-sings-Clooney tribute, bowing with a Rosey 71,000. OutKast refused to be cast out, selling a chart-topping 235,000 in week 2.

ON TOUR

The red-hot STROKES, whose Room on Fire hits stores Oct. 21, are on the road with Southern garage rockers Kings of Leon, whose debut has even Sir Elton singing its praises. They’ll be pulling into San Francisco (Oct. 21), Atlanta (Nov. 9), and towns in between.
