NOT ‘2’ SHABBY

Vin who? Even without Diesel power, Universal’s 2 Fast 2 Furious motored to a better opening than the original — though many expect it to run out of gas well before reaching the $145 million final take of F&F 1. As in any race, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. On that front, Bruce Almighty’s sturdy legs now guarantee that it’ll end up as Jim Carrey’s second-highest grosser ever (surpassed only by Grinch), and Finding Nemo’s strong hold means it could challenge Monsters, Inc. as Pixar’s top performer. In other fish (excuse us, aquatic) news, Newmarket’s Whale Rider (No. 32) had plenty to spout off about with an excellent opening on nine screens.
