Jennifer Garner speaks out about her breakup

Jennifer Garner speaks out about her breakup. Here's how she coped with her split from husband Scott Foley

On Thursday, Jennifer Garner spoke out for the first time since her split from husband Scott Foley. Not that the ”Alias” star had much to say about why they split — she cited irreconcilable differences when she filed for divorce earlier this month — only about how she coped after they separated in March after little more than two years of marriage.

”You know, it’s not an ideal time in your life, but I have such great girlfriends, and I was able to go away with them to Hawaii for almost a week and I went home to my parents in West Virginia for a week, so I had a nice time away,” she told TV’s ”Access Hollywood.” She added, ”And it’s been really fun to work on a comedy,” referring to the movie ”13 Going on 30.” ”It’s like ‘Big’ in many ways, but it makes me nervous to say that because Tom Hanks was so brilliant and it’s such an incredible, beautiful movie that to compare myself to him is nerve-racking.”

The ”Alias” star also said a ”Daredevil” spinoff, centering on her character, Elektra, could go into production as soon as next summer. ”I think that there is something in the works to be made next summer, definitely. We still need to read the first draft of the script, and if it isn’t great than none of us want to do it,” she said. ”I am hoping that it will be done. I had a really great time playing that role.”

As for how ”Alias” will pick up in the fall after this month’s season-ending cliffhanger, Garner said she was still in suspense, too. ”It kills me! I had dinner with [series creator] J.J. Abrams and I said, ‘Come on, you’re going back to work to start writing for me, you must know what is going on.’ And he said, ‘I don’t know.’ I think he just does that to mess with me.”
