COLIN ‘PHONE’ HOME

Nailing his third No. 1 opening in four months (following The Recruit and Daredevil), Colin Farrell rang up $15 million for his sniper thriller Phone Booth (put on hold last November after the D.C. shootings). The news was less exhilarating for Vin Diesel, whose A Man Apart came in behind Amanda Bynes’ tween comedy What a Girl Wants, marking the baldie’s second recent underperforming thug-athon, after last October’s Knockaround Guys. And while Eddie Griffin’s DysFunKtional Family averaged a fizzling $1,794, Nick Nolte’s casino-heist neo-noir The Good Thief hit the jackpot with a full-house $14,620 per-site average in just nine theaters.
