Filmmaker Mark Moskowitz’s sleuthing on behalf of one out-of-print work of serious fiction results in a stirring documentary about the terrors and pleasures of reading and publishing. Moved by ”The Stones of Summer,” an unsung 1972 novel by Dow Mossman (who never published another book), the hard-driving Moskowitz crosses the country talking to editors, agents, and other writers before getting to thank the humble, gently defeated-looking author in a moving moment of victory for the power of the written word.
