Hockey can be a violent sport, but usually the violence is restricted to the ice. On Saturday night, however, ”Dawson’s Creek” star Joshua Jackson was arrested for an alleged drunken assault on a security guard at a Carolina Hurricanes game at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C., according to the Raleigh News & Observer. The 24-year-old actor, who plays Pacey on the WB drama, was released Sunday morning on $1,000 bail.

According to the News & Observer’s account of the police report, Jackson allegedly grabbed guard Drew Grissom, 40, around the neck and struck him. Terry Dean Long, 38, a production worker on the show, was also arrested and told a magistrate he jumped into the fight after Jackson. In jail, Jackson’s blood test showed a blood alcohol level of .14, above the state’s legal limit of .08. Jackson was hit with a misdemeanor assault charge. Long, who posted bail and was freed later on Sunday, according to the Associated Press, was charged with being intoxicated and disruptive and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Jackson’s career has been intertwined with hockey ever since he got his big break a decade ago as one of the peewee skaters in the ”Mighty Ducks” movies. ”Dawson’s Creek” shoots in Wilmington, N.C., 130 miles from Raleigh, and had shot scenes at the RBC Center for the episode that airs this Wednesday. Contacted by EW.com, Jackson’s spokesperson declined to comment on his arrest. He’s due in court on Dec. 4.
