BURNT MONEY

Move over, Bonnie and Clyde. Angel (Noriega) and El Nene (Sbaraglia) are an even sexier pair of outlaws. Like the legendary ’30s duo, they’re based on actual criminals. Unlike them, however, Angel and El Nene are a gay couple who met having sex in a bathroom in ’60s Buenos Aires. The small-time crooks take part in a big-time armored-car robbery and then escape to Uruguay with their accomplices. Not surprisingly, scenes showing the gang hiding out in a squalid apartment soon grow tedious. But thanks to director Marcelo Pineyro’s visual flair and the stars’ smoldering good looks, Burnt Money rebounds with a fiery finale.
