BOX OFFICE

DARTH FADER

It was the sum of Lucasfilm’s fears: The NBA playoffs and nuclear-powered competition combined to knock Attack of the Clones out of first place in only its third week of release. The Boba Fetted film looks destined to become the first $300 million disappointment. It may be the first Star Wars installment to lose the year-end box office crown, which is likely to go to Spider-Man, now poised to replace Jurassic Park as the fifth-highest-grossing movie ever. Insomnia, Enough, and Spirit posted disappointing declines, but Undercover Brother liberated $12 million from the Man.
