Movie Review: 'Beautiful'

Sally Field turns up the gloss on the garish pomp of beauty pageantry in her NutraSweetened feature directorial debut. Mona (made mildly charming by Driver) is a ruthless contestant who fake-smiles her way out of a hardscrabble life into this world of sateen and sequins. Though she’s lost sight of what really matters, count on Pepsi gremlin Eisenberg (as the daughter she won’t acknowledge) to draw out the prescribed epiphanies. C+
